Strength in numbers – agility is key

Riddle me this: In Switzerland, what do a pool technician, an animal osteopath, a private detective, a physiotherapist and a translator have in common? Despite them all having very enviable jobs, the right answer is that they each belong to a professional association. With some dating back to the 19th century, these organisations have proven vital over the decades, striving to serve the interests of the people they represent – much like textocreativ.

Technical translation in the automotive sector

A mutual understanding

It is no coincidence that numerous professional associations have chosen to entrust us with their translation needs, including the Federation of Swiss Psychologists (FSP), the leading association of psychologists in Switzerland, whose publications are often available in several languages. The health sector alone boasts dozens upon dozens of professional associations, both medical and paramedical. Such translations require subject-specific terminology, which we manage with surgical precision using our specialised tools.

Often bound by time constraints, these organisations need to be able to count on an agency that can meet tight deadlines, despite the large volumes of content for documentation, regulations, position papers, conference proceedings and various annual reports. Data privacy and the sensitive nature of certain information require such content to be handled with special care. By joining a professional association in Switzerland, members seek the reliability of a structured organisation that offers the support they need in their own language. We take a certain professional pride in the knowledge that the quality of the translations we provide contributes to the good reputations of these associations.

And now, in the hope that one final riddle doesn’t undermine our own credibility…

Among the following organisations, one isn’t real. Can you guess which?
Is it the Swiss Association of Plate Glass, the Swiss Tyre Association, the Swiss Cremation Union, the Swiss Gamekeepers’ Association, the Tiling Federation of Western Switzerland, the Swiss Housekeepers’ Association, the Swiss Union of Whey Producers or the Swiss Yak Breeders’ Association? Which do you think?
Well, while whey producers have yet to form a collective, maybe we should seriously think about joining… the Comedy Union of Switzerland!
